Lincoln MKZ: CCD Aims to Mitigate Pothole Damage

While the polar vortex has continued to wreak havoc on many Canadian cities this year, its impact has created a new condition: the dreaded “pothole vortex.” Dodging potholes and the costly car repairs that can come with hitting one is easier said then done, as Canadian driver’s face a record number of roads littered with these dangerous and damaging land mines.

The video above shows how the engineers at Lincoln plan to fight back with a special pothole defense mechanism found on the 2014 Lincoln MKZ’s standard continuously controlled damping (CCD) suspension, which provides intelligent suspension protection against jarring impact and costly wheel/tire repairs from the dreaded highway pitfalls.
